Creamy Chicken Roll Ups
These Creamy Chicken Roll Ups are truly a “favorite family recipe”. There is something about the combination of flaky roll, savory chicken, served with a creamy sauce that makes this meal totally irresistible!
I make this Creamy Chicken Roll Ups recipe using Shredded Chicken, don’t worry if you don’t have shredded chicken ready. You can quickly cook some up, or in a pinch used Canned Chicken Breast or cut up Rotisserie Chicken.
You can either use the regular crescent rolls (what I prefer) or you can use crescent roll sheets but you’ll need to cut into triangles using a pizza cutter, or a sharp knife. Preparing the rest only takes minutes, and Dinner is quickly on the table. It’s a lifesaver when you need a quick delicious meal.
THE INGREDIENTS ARE SIMPLE :
Here’s what you’ll need to make Creamy Chicken Rolls Ups (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the easy to print recipe card):
Refrigerated crescent roll dough – You can either use the regular crescent rolls (what I prefer) or you can use crescent roll sheets but you’ll need to cut into triangles using a pizza cutter, or a sharp knife.
Cream of chicken soup – use the regular size cans of soup, not the big family size.
Cream cheese – we used regular cream cheese, but you could try reduced fat if you prefer.
Fully cooked shredded chicken – I make this Creamy Chicken Roll Ups recipe using Shredded Chicken, don’t worry if you don’t have shredded chicken ready. You can quickly cook some up, use leftovers or in a pinch used Canned Chicken Breast or cut up Rotisserie Chicken.
Ranch dressing mix – this gives great flavor to the rolls. It does make the sauce look oddly green at first, but it looks great after baking.
Green onions
Some of our FAVORITE Add ins for Creamy Chicken Roll Ups
Bacon Crumbles– Did your mouth just start to salivate? Oh it’s good!
Italian seasoning – instead of ranch dressing mix, you can use a packet of dry Italian dressing mix.
Cheese Mozzarella, Cheddar, or even Parmesan. Add some extra Cheese.
Celery – Celery gives texture and a little crunch. It’s good. Try it!
Green onions – you can leave this ingredient out if you have picky eaters. The onions just add nice flavor to the chicken filling.
Bell Pepper, Red or yellow Bell Pepper. Try it!
Tips for making this Creamy Chicken Roll Ups
- Don’t cut the bake time short, you want to make sure all the dough is baked through!
- The bottom of the rolls (in the sauce) will stay soft – like dumplings — but will still be cooked through, you’re not eating raw dough.
- Leftover chicken from a previous meal also works well!
- You can either use the regular crescent rolls (what I prefer) or you can use crescent roll sheets but you’ll need to cut into triangles using a pizza cutter, or a sharp knife.
- Adjust the ranch dressing mix and/or onions spice to your particular tastes – you can make these spicy as you like!
- Less saucy – place the chicken crescent rolls on a lightly greased baking sheet, leaving a couple of inches between each roll. Bake the rolls about 11-12 minutes until the rolls are golden brown. You can use reserved sauce as a dipping sauce instead.
